This is the remarkable story of an exceptional replica, built by the South African luthier Hans van den Berg, of the famous FE 17 classical guitar originally crafted by Antonio de Torres in 1864. This documentary features various charming pieces composed by Francisco Tárrega, beautifully played by the South African guitarist Abri Jordaan on this FE17 replica.

James Grace performs Danza from his new album Andaluza, Music of Spain III
I met James in the beginning of my guitar making career. Hoping to attract his attention I showed him my second guitar. This was premature and did not impress him much. Also it was a spruce guitar and James is a cedar man.
Years later when the demand for cedar guitars became more frequent I challenged myself by building a cedar guitar for James. Unfortunately that guitar also did not meet the high standards he requires for his instruments. He showed me gratitude by using the guitar for the recording of two pieces on his CD Cafe Latino which I am very grateful for.
Seven years later, you can imagine my surprise when James contacted me and said "I want to place an order for one of your Cedar double top guitars". I was overwhelmed with joy, a long term goal has been achieved. James received his guitar last year December and his first performances with it will be on 4th Feb in St Francis Church Parkview and on the 7th Feb Concierto de Aranjuez in Linder Audutorium.
On the 3rd January 2016 I celebrated Berg Guitars's 20th anniversary. I am grateful to everyone's support and encouragement. Most of all grateful to the Lord who makes all things possible through faith in Him.
